Its primary operations, including an operating mine and exploration properties, are located in the mineral-rich Mbeya region of Tanzania. The company focuses on sustainable mining practices, creating local employment opportunities, and contributing to economic growth in the region. The company’s principal activities involve medium-scale gold mining, exploration, and production. Exploration programs utilize geological mapping, data analysis, and drilling/sampling to assess mineral deposits.

Role Overview:

The Drill Operator is a critical operational role responsible for the safe, accurate, and  efficient execution of drilling activities at the mining and exploration site. This position  requires strong hands-on technical skills, deep familiarity with drilling equipment, and the  ability to operate, monitor, and maintain RC rigs, compressors, boosters, hydraulic systems,  and associated drilling infrastructure essential for daily mining, sampling, and geotechnical  operations. The Drill Operator will perform reverse circulation (RC), geotechnical, and  exploration drilling, ensure high-quality sample recovery, and maintain reliable rig  performance across all shifts. Core responsibilities include accurate drilling to specified depths,  continuous monitoring of operating parameters, prevention of sample contamination,  troubleshooting mechanical or hydraulic issues, and supporting safe and efficient field  operations.

The role demands the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary field  team, which may include geologists, geotechnical technicians, mechanics, welders,  electricians, and drilling assistants. Experience in mining or exploration environments is highly  preferred, where safety, equipment reliability, and work discipline are essential.

  • Handle drill rods, hammers, bits, subs, and all drilling consumables safely and  effectively.
  • Manage compressors, boosters, and air systems to maintain stable drilling  performance.
  • Ensure clean, accurate, and uncontaminated sample recovery using cyclone and  splitter systems.
  • Prevent cross-contamination, sample loss, or mislabeling during sampling operations.
  • Record accurate drilling depths, sample intervals, geological observations, and field  data.
  • Maintain proper chain of custody and support geologists with sample handling when  required.
  • Conduct daily inspections, pre-start checks, and routine preventative maintenance of  drilling equipment.
  • Perform basic mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting, including hose replacement,  greasing, and minor repairs.
  • Identify and report early signs of mechanical issues, breakdowns, or unsafe operating  conditions.
  • Maintain rig cleanliness, tool organization, and safe storage of all equipment.
  • Assist with geotechnical drilling tasks and installation of monitoring devices when  required.
